I am nearing the end of my telework stint. It's been great to be able to spend time at home with the little guy and it's definitely prolonged the breastfeeding situation, but part of me is happy about going back to work in the office. Being home is a little distracting. I feel like I can't concentrate fully on my work nor can I concentrate fully on the baby. It's just tough to be in both worlds simultaneously.
My mom has been here while I'm teleworking and next week when I get back into the office, my sister will be here with my niece to watch the baby. That's just going to last 2 more weeks before he goes to an in home daycare center near our house in June. We finally got a call this past week from one of the bigger daycare centers we had visited. They had a spot for us, but it was one of my least favorite places so we passed on the spot. We are still waiting patiently for a spot at our first choice daycare but in the interim, the little guy will go to the in home daycare. UGH we've been on their list for over a year.
I am so nervous for the first day of daycare. And I am getting more irritable the closer the day gets. I am positive that once the baby starts daycare and both E and I are working that we'll eat nothing but cereal and all wear dirty clothes.
I've read all your magazines, drunk all your tea, sat in all of your uncomfortable chairs and wondered about all the others waiting alongside me...finally not waiting anymore for our little one but back on the road for another.

What it means to be a mother
The few things I've learned so far about what it means to be a mother:
1. It's so much harder yet even more wonderful than I ever imagined.
2. Learning to eat with one hand is a must; cut your steak before you pick up the baby.
3. Being a mom means watching your child struggle through challenges but always being the cheerleader.
4. Being gooey is the best!
5. Baby laughter melts your heart
6. Start that glass of wine 5 mins before the end of your nursing session
7. Never leave the house without the paci
8. Its ok not to know what you're doing
9. All we really want for Mothers Day is a clean house and a nap
I'm sure there's more but as I type one handed from my iphone with a finally asleep baby in my arms, that's all I can manage.
Happy Mother's Day to all the past present and future mothers.

How Far We've Come
Officially I missed it, but it wasn't lost on me. April 28, 2012 was the day we did our transfer. Last year at the time we were in the middle of the two week wait, visiting my sister in Denver and hoping with all our might that we'd have a happy ending. I simply cannot believe that we have a son after all this time. It's incredible how much pain we endured to get to where we are. It's incredible how many others are just like us in that regard.
To anyone still trying - you are always, constantly and forever in my heart.
